Research Editing

ASU Knowledge Enterprise provides ASU faculty, research staff members, and postdocs with free, confidential editing for grant proposals, journal manuscripts and book proposals.

Grant proposal editing services:

• Editing for logic, clarity, and coherency of the academic presentation
• Suggestions for improving organization and strengthening the narrative
• Proofreading for grammatical issues and typos
• Checking for adherence to agency submission guidelines
• Editing PI’s response to panel commentary if resubmitting
• Most proposals edited within three day, but special circumstances are recognized.

Journal manuscript editing services:

• Editing for logic, clarity, and coherency of the academic presentation
• Suggestions for improving organization and strengthening the narrative
• Proofreading for grammatical issues and typos
• Checking for adherence to journal guidelines
• Editing author’s response to editor and reviewer commentary if resubmitting
• Most manuscripts edited within ten days.

Book proposal editing services:

• All edits according to the book audience (e.g., specialized or general interest)
• Editing for logic, clarity, coherency, and overall readability
• Suggestions for improving the table of contents, as well as shape, narrative, and voice
• Proofreading for grammatical issues and typos
• Checking for adherence to book publisher guidelines (e.g., sections, length, style, and questions)
• Most book proposals edited within ten days

About our services in general:

• We prefer to edit Word files.  If you work in LaTeX, convert your files to PDF and submit them to us. We will convert them to Word, edit them, and return the edited files to you.
• We do not design or modify graphics; we only comment on them.
• We expect authors to adhere or come close to word/page limits.
• Graduate student first authors or PIs are referred to the Graduate Writing Center.
• Submissions are made through our portal: asu.edu/proposalediting
